Not Nick Nolte's Diary, Malibu, CaliforniaMarch 22, 2005

If I were a weatherman I would report the news sitting down, it just makes sense if you think about it long enough. When someone is sitting down you trust them that much more. Used car salesman; no. Judges; yes. I think it all dates back to the beginning of time like most things Diary, but it was made familiar with FDR's presidency. His fireside chats were not only a turning point in media and technology but in this phenomenon as well. I would sit in a comfortable chair, not unlike the one I have in the Oak room and give people the weather. And not the weather they want to hear either, but the truth. Manolo told me if I wanted to be a weatherman I would have to change my name. He suggested Gavin McCloud. Well, I think I would keep my name and my catchphrase would be, "So there it is folks, whether or not you like it..."
