Diary, it is January now and that means it's kite flying season in Malibu. I asked Manolo to unpack my finest single-liner, Cap o' Lead and take it out this afternoon. It's marvelous the way kites play with man's desire to fly, but for me it's all about challenging the elements. The kite reminds me of my favorite Dickinson poem: "a thunder storm combines the charms of winter and of hell." I guess I'll check the weather page before I go outside and impersonate Ben Franklin in a painful way. I'll just rewind the spool of line and by inaction better the day's design. Take that ED, wherever you may be.
